capturing packets

Jan 22, 2011 at 1:34 AM

im having troubles understanding the wireless world , i made an application to print the timestamp and  size of all packets with the filter :  "icmp" , in my home there are 2 computers with a wireless connection conected to a router-modem that provides the internet  so i put my app to capture the packets and first testing i send ping requests with the ping command and  succefully my program showed them... after that i did the same from my brother's computer ( also a wireless connection) but my app captured nothing so  i cant figure out what's wrong if i my wireless card is set in promiscous mode  ?? = (

i got the same results with wireshark ....

Hi Adum_264,

As far as I know, WinPcap doesn't support Wireless adapters in promiscuous mode well.

AirPcap, which I know little about, might help you.

See the FAQ in WinPcap site:
