How to construct PCAP packets withough selecting a device, and write the packets to a new PCAP file

Jul 29, 2012 at 2:59 PM

I am trying to construct PCAP packets without selecting a network device, and write to a newly created PCAP file. All samples I saw was to select a network device from the device list. However I want to fake up a network device that was a serial port. Can anybody help on this? If a sample program can be provided, it would be very halpful. Hi acui01,

You can use the static method PacketDumpFile.Dump() in order to directly create a pcap file without a network device.

The 'Pcap.Net Tutorial - Handling offline dump files' section mentions it.

I hope this helps,

Boaz.

Hi Boaz,

Thank you for the reply to my post.

Where can I find the tutorial? Is it in the documentation zip file that I could download from this site? Is the file name Dot.Net.chm? However I did not find the tutorial in this file.

 Thank you again!

On the main page of this site you can find a link to Pcap.Net User Guide.
