Packets Loss (on recieve) when using WinPcap .....

I'm trying to recieve Ethernet packets using C# application which uses Wincap (PcapDotNet).

The problem is that I see lot of packets loss on recieve, I'm using an interrupt function for recieving the packets - inside the interrupt I'm only counting the packets and I check the index they contain (which is a running number that I'm getting from the device: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4..... and so on).

I'm expecting to get 1026 packets but I'm getting only about 770. The strange thing is that till packet 770 I'm getting almost all the packets that I'm expecting to get (I can see that by the packet's Index) , I loss only about 4-5 packets, but then all the rest of the packets from (about) packet 770 till 1026 are lost, and are not recieved in my application.

Note: I can see all the packets in the 'WireShark' application, so I know that they recieved to my PC ethernet card, which is:

"Network adapter 'Intel(R) PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter' on local host".

I'm using:

Ethernet speed of 1GigE.

Packets frequency is 1/10.6us ( = 94.4 KHRz )

Any idea what may be the problem ?

Thanks very much in advance.

Hi PcapUser,

From the information you gave me it seems that the device or driver buffer is getting full before you read the packets.

Maybe you send all of the packets before you're starting to wait for them?

How quickly are you sending thee packets?

Can you give some code sample?
