According to Boaz (see Discussion titled "internal DataSegment members should be protected" on 04-14-2011), the Pcap.Net library is not currently intended to be extended by clients in external assemblies.
 
This issue is an enhancement request to design and implement support for plugins/extensions of datagrams and layers.
