packet transmission speed

Hi all,

I have a question about packet transmission speed.

I sent a single packet and receive the packet, and get the transmission time is about 1000 ms by using StopWatch class. But if I observe the packet transmission by wireshark, the packet transmission time is about 1 ms.

The packet I sent is a layer2 packet.

I am so curious why I need wait for 1000 ms to get the response in my application.

Does anyone know the reason?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Hi,

I found the answer about my question.

PacketCommunicator receiver =
selectedDevice.Open(65536, // portion of the packet to capture
// 65536 guarantees that the whole packet will be captured on all the link layers
                                PacketDeviceOpenAttributes.Promiscuous, // promiscuous mode
                                1000))
the last argument can set the timeout length.

If we set the argument is 1000; every time you send a packet you need wait 1000 ms to receive the packet you want.
