Device Description

here is the code I wrote:
 __  private void FormMain_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {
            IList<LivePacketDevice> allDevices = LivePacketDevice.AllLocalMachine;
            if (allDevices.Count == 0)
            {
                MessageBox.Show(@"Aucune interface trouvée");
                return;

            }
            for (int i = 0; i != allDevices.Count; i++)
            {
                LivePacketDevice device = allDevices[i];
                lstInterfaces.Items.Add(device.Description);
            }

        }__
and this is my result:
__Network adapteur 'Microsoft' on local host
Network adapteur 'Microsoft' on local host
Network adapteur 'Microsoft' on local host
Network adapteur 'Realtec PCIe FE Family Controller' on local host__
with these results i cannot differentiate wifi adapter, bluetooth adapter. I only identify the ethernet adapter.
so how could i get the realy description like ipconfig /all command gives me?
I want to know what's my wifi adapter, my bluetooth adapter,.....

Hi Barack1234,

In addition to the Description, there is also a Name property and the Addresses property that can help you differentiate between the devices.

Hi Brickner
thank you for your help. but even using Name and Address properties that doesn' t fixe my problem. I want to get explicitly adapters like wireshark doses it

Can you give an example for what Wireshark gives you and what Pcap.Net gives you in all the fields?

Hi brickner
this the result wireshark gives me:
  • Wi-fi
  • Bluetooth Network Connection
  • Local Area Connection*2
  • Ethernet
    and the result that pcap gives me when i use Description property is:
  • Network adapteur 'Microsoft' on local host
  • Network adapteur 'Microsoft' on local host
  • Network adapteur 'Microsoft' on local host
  • Network adapteur 'Realtec PCIe FE Family Controller' on local host
    when i use the name property, i obtain a result like that:
  • rpcap://\Device\NPF_{555EA70B-BC91-4520-8307-E7FC043C6997} (Network adapter 'Atheros AR8121/AR8113 PCI-E Ethernet Controller (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler) ' on local host)

I'm using Wireshark 1.6.6 and I'm Wireshark gives me the same description I'm getting from the Description property in Pcap.Net.
What version of Wireshark are you using?
Could you see if you get the same results in Wireshark 1.6.6?
